ISRAEL PALESTINE CONFLICT

In the 19th, and 20th century due to discrimination against Jews in Europe, there was increased demand for a separate state for Jews. In the 19th-20th century Jews started settling in Palestine. The local arab population opposed it due to fear of losing their land or territory. In Palestine Jews living were less than 1 percent of their total world population are now more than 40 percent of their World Population. Britain Supported the creation of a homeland for Jews in Palestine. In 1936, Arabs opposed Jews demanding independence where Britishers successfully controlled the revolt.

In 1947, the United nation partition plan for Palestine was proposed by the united nation, in which the arab state would have 11,100 square km or 42% of the territory and the Jews would have 14,100 square km of land or 56% of territory and remaining 2 percent Jerusalem, Bethlehem and the adjoining area will become an international zone.

Arabian leaders and government rejected it as Arabs were 2/3 of the Palestinian population. This triggered the 1948 Palestinian war which led to the expulsion of many Arab people from proposed Israel. Gaza Strip came under the control of Egypt and the West Bank under the control of Jordan. Jordan and Egypt used to support Palestinian militants cross border attacks, suicide attacks.

In the 1967 six-day war Israel occupied the West Bank, and Gaza Strip also. These areas also have opposition to Israel as the Gaza Strip was controlled by Hamas, and Fata controlled the West Bank, they were militant organizations. In Between many peace Processes also took place such as the Oslo Accord, camp David Summit, Taba Summit, Roadmap for Peace, and Arab Peace Initiative. Israel & Hamas fought five wars including the recently started war in 2023 after Hamas attacked Israel.
